David Burrows, President and Chief Investment Strategist at Barometer Capital, appeared on BNN Bloomberg to share his thoughts on the use of quantitative analysis in the investing world and how it can work for you.
“When we talk quantitative analysis, basically what we’re doing is we’re taking numbers, data, some computing power and some rules to try to make more repeatable, predictable decisions.”
As investors, we all have biases built into us — whether we know it or not. We are highly risk averse and don’t want to take a loss. So investors tend to hold on to certain stocks longer than they should. On the other hand, investors love to take a profit, so they can tend to sell their winners and take profits too quickly.
All of this runs counter to the way that we make money investing.
How you can make quantitative analysis work for you
In this video, hear David Burrows explain his thoughts on how we use computers and numbers to make more statistically sound decisions. Quantitative analysis allows you to cut through far more information to do your analysis.
